5 Major Differences Gamers Should Know

Minecraft Dungeons is an action RPG developed by Mojang Studios, Xbox Game Studios, and Double Eleven. It’s a newer game, released on May 26, 2020, and has been a bit of a hit since it arrived.

This game is available on Windows, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X/S. The standard edition of the game costs $19.99, while the Hero edition costs $29.99. Hero Edition includes the Hero Pass, which in turn includes many in-game items that can only be collected through the Hero Pass.

Minecraft Dungeons shares part of its name with the original Minecraft, which might confuse some players into thinking that Minecraft Dungeons is similar to Minecraft. Although they have some similarities, they are quite different on many different accounts, although the goal was to make the games very similar with only a few differences here and there.

Regular Minecraft is considered a sandbox game, in which players can travel endlessly. However, Minecraft Dungeons is a dungeon crawler, which is a type of role-playing game in which players navigate a dungeon environment. While both games are set in the same fictional universe, Minecraft Dungeons is an action RPG while Minecraft itself is a sandbox game.

#4 – Scenario

Regular Minecraft is notorious for not having a technical storyline. Of course, the main objective is to go beat the ender dragon, but this is more of an end destination than a complete storyline.

Minecraft Dungeons is very narrative-driven, telling a story about the main heroes’ quest against evil mobs fueled by what’s called the Orb of Dominance. The antagonist of the game is the one who controls dungeon systems, terrorizes cities and much more. In fact, there even seems to be a backstory about the antagonist, giving the storyline a lot more depth.

#3 – Craft

One of the main capabilities of Minecraft is the ability to craft items. Crafting items is essential, as most things that can be crafted are necessary for survival.

However, Minecraft Dungeons has absolutely no handcrafted aspect to it, making it almost (but not completely) the opposite of the Minecraft we’re all familiar with. This is because it is an action RPG, where players will get items by running through dungeons and killing enemies.

#2 – Action Differences

One of the main differences between Minecraft Dungeons and standard Minecraft is that the level of action in Minecraft Dungeons is significantly higher than standard Minecraft.

In Minecraft Dungeons, players must constantly fight their way through waves of mobs in order to reach the end of the campaign. Meanwhile, regular Minecraft has combat aspects, especially when it comes to battling mobs at night, although players aren’t constantly fighting for their lives like they are in Minecraft Dungeons.

#1 – World Building

Because Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft are two different genres, world building is very different in the two.

Players can’t mine or build in Minecraft Dungeons, which means every stage players are on is pre-built and they can’t add anything to it. Meanwhile, the goal of Minecraft is for players to build whatever their heart desires, which means that world building is left entirely in the hands of the player.
