How to Zoom in Minecraft Bedrock Edition

Visibility in Minecraft isn’t usually an issue, but players looking to expand their horizons will be disappointed to find no option set for a zoom feature. Adding to the problem, most of the zoom options are Java-specific. Mods and other methods are readily available for Java Edition players, but not so much for Bedrock. There are a few unconventional ways to zoom Bedrock Edition, however.

Zoom on Minecraft Bedrock Edition

The first method is for Xbox users.

  1. Hold the Xbox button until it vibrates and opens options
  2. There will be options to turn off the console or the controller. In the bottom right corner is an option called Magnifier. Click on the ”View” button in the center of the controller to open it.
  3. Click ”Yes” to activate it.
  4. Use the left trigger to zoom in and the right trigger to zoom out. Pan the screen area with the right stick.

The second method is for PlayStation users.

  1. Press the PlayStation button in the middle of the controller.
  2. Open “Settings” and find “Accessibility”.
  3. Click on the ”Zoom” option.
  4. Click the box to activate it.
  5. Return to Minecraft.
  6. Use PlayStation button + Square button to zoom and Circle button to unzoom. Use the directional pad to move around the screen.

There is also a method for Nintendo Switch Minecraft players.

  1. Open System Settings on the home screen.
  2. Select ”System” in the left pane, then scroll down to ”Zoom”.
  3. Click Expand.
  4. Return to Minecraft.
  5. Double-click the Home button to enable zoom during playback.
  6. Select the area to zoom in using one of the analog sticks.
  7. Use the ”X” button to zoom in and the ”Y” button to zoom out. There is a zoom gauge on the screen.
  8. Double-click the Home button to exit Zoom.

Finally, thanks to the 1.17 update, there is a method for all players in the game to use a zoom feature. Minecraft added copper, which can be used (along with amethyst shards, another 1.17 addition) to craft a spyglass. A spyglass can then be used (by clicking the appropriate button) to zoom in on anything in the game.
