We find out if Minecraft Dungeons supports cross-play
There was a bit of concern that Minecraft would be held hostage when Microsoft bought Mojang. These fears proved to be unfounded, as not only did the main game remain available on various platforms, but the hack-and-slash spin-off Minecraft Dungeons was also released on various platforms. With the game available on 4 different builds, many may have wondered if the game supports crossplay. In summary, yes, the game does indeed support cross-play for players of PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC versions.
Is Minecraft Dungeons cross-platform? – does Minecraft Dungeons Crossplay?
Minecraft Dungeons does indeed support cross-play and has done so since late 2020. The game originally released without the feature in May of the same year, but only had to wait 6 months before the update that fixed the problem. That doesn’t mean it’s as simple as booting up the game and playing with your cross-platform friends, though.
How to Play Minecraft Dungeons Cross Platform
The method you need to use to enable crossplay differs slightly on Xbox and PC consoles compared to PlayStation and Nintendo systems. If you’re on one of Microsoft’s owned platforms, you don’t need to do anything. The feature is enabled by default and you should be able to see all of your friends to add to your group. However, on Switch and PlayStation, you’ll need to sign in to your Microsoft account, which should allow you to see and play with all of your friends, assuming they’re also signed in to their Microsoft account.
Does Minecraft Dungeons have Cross Save / Cross Progression?
Although it took a bit of time, it’s now entirely possible to sync your progress across all available versions of the game. As long as you’re signed into the same Microsoft account on multiple platforms, all of your unlocks and levels should appear no matter where you play.
