Minecraft is launching a new beta for the Bedrock Edition today, which adds some additional “experimental features” from the Caves and Cliffs update. That’s right, players enrolled in the beta program can install Minecraft Beta 1.16.210.59 right now and test the latest mob to join Minecraft: the glowing squid.
In case you’ve forgotten, the glowing squid is the mob that won the fateful Mob Vote during last year’s Minecraft Live event, and will therefore be added to the game via the upcoming Caves and Cliffs update. . In addition to its main purpose of being terrifyingly bright, the Luminous Squid drops bags of Glowing Ink when killed, which can be used to craft new frames of illuminated items to brag about at night.
While perhaps not as exciting as the recent Minecraft: Java Edition snapshot, big things are set to come to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition in the near future.
The complete changelog for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Beta 1.16.210.59 includes:
Experimental features
shiny squid
