Minecraft Dungeon-crawler spin-off Minecraft Dungeons has its first DLC on the way, and developer Mojang has announced a final release date. Fans of Diablo’s blocky riff can dive into Jungle Awakens on July 1.
In less than a week (ta, Eurogamer), gamers can start exploring the next chapter of the action-adventure game Minecraft. As the name suggests, you will travel through a “distant and dangerous jungle”, where you will come across the lost temple, a new dungeon to complete which contains three new story missions, and you will have to defeat the abomination of the jungle. New weapons, armor, and artifacts are included, along with several new pets, including the Leafleaf, Jungle Zombie, Poison Quill Vine, and the Whisperer. Oh, and the pandas.
This is the first of two DLC packs planned for Minecraft Dungeons this year. The second is Creeping Winter, which involves “frozen peaks” but has not yet been dated. Jungle Awakens and Creeping Winter are available through the Minecraft Dungeons Hero Pass, which comes with the Hero Edition of the game if you ordered it, otherwise you’ll need to purchase it separately.
We were reasonably impressed with Minecraft Dungeons during our review, and many other reviewers in our roundup were equally enthusiastic. We’ve got a Minecraft Dungeons Enchantments Guide and a Minecraft Dungeons Artifacts Guide, if you’ve been playing and want to get them all before Jungle Awakens arrives.
Mojang has confirmed that it is working on cross-platform multiplayer, promising an update very soon. In other news, Minecraft recently led the 2020 inductees into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
