Minecraft Dungeons isn’t grabbing headlines like it did at launch. Still, it’s getting a nice boost in attention following the release of its second expansion, Creeping Winter. This expansion is far bigger than its predecessor, Jungle Awakens, which didn’t do much to improve the game’s endgame content or set players back in the long run. Creeping Winter aims to fix that, with a host of meaningful additions that make the game easier, more fun, and give players reason to come back again and again.

New features

- A creeping winter slowly invades everything it touches, and the source of its chilling power is a mighty creature known as the Wretched Wraith.
- Participate in three new missions and face new enemies such as the illusionist and the iceologist
- As you track down the source of the corruption, you’ll discover new armor, weapons, and artifacts beneath the snow and sleet
- Two new player skins and pet Arctic Fox
Free Features
- Daily Trials – New challenges every day that bring sweeping changes to gameplay mechanics that give you difficult, experimental, or fun challenges to overcome and earn powerful rewards. There are four new pieces of gear to earn, exclusive to Daily Trials!
- New Camp Merchants to rescue during missions, such as the Blacksmith to upgrade gear and Gift Wrap to gift items to other players
- New weapons and armor exclusive to Daily Trials, plus two new Artifacts and six new Enchantments spread across the game. Strike into battle using new tools such as the Beenest, Beenest Armor, and Tumblebee Enchantment!
General changes
- Added a map legend, showing new rewards, secret locations, and captured merchants
- New achievements and trophies to unlock for Jungle Awakens and Creeping Winter
- After losing a life, players now receive a bundle of arrows if they had less than a full bundle
- The host of an online game can now enable private play so that friends cannot join unless invited
- Balance Changes
- Short Bow / Long Bow / Bow: Ammo increased by 50%
- Cutlass: Attack combo changed from four to two attacks
- Pickaxe: modification of the attack combo in a single attack
- Daggers: increased dagger attack range by 25%
- Battlestaff now drops in the lower temple
- Light Feather now triggers all rolling enchantments
All platform fixes
Crashes / performance
- Fixed several crashes that occurred during gameplay on all platforms
- Fixed game freezing after activating Flaming Quiver, Fireworks Arrow and Torment Quiver at the same time on Nintendo Switch
General
- Dozens of improvements and fixes have been made to Text-to-Speech throughout the game
- Fixed players getting disconnected from a session if the host was experiencing low FPS during the loading screen
Gameplay
- Corrupted Cauldron can no longer be killed instantly
- Fixed players having no arrows and health potion not working if they were disconnected from a game during the loading screen and then reconnected
- Using soulbound items while wearing soulbound gear no longer propels the player into the air
- Fixes for inventory retrieval issues
- Fall damage changed to percent health, regardless of armor worn
Chart
- Fixed flickering of doors when lowered on Overgrown Temple
- Fixed ending cutscene becoming choppy during online multiplayer
audio
- Updated the lobby chest closing sound to better match the closing action
- Fixed missing sound when pressing the last puzzle button on Dingy Jungle
- Fixed background music randomly stopping on Lower Temple
- Redstone Golem mines no longer produce sound when master volume is set to 0%
- Fixed cinematic voiceover language not changing after changing system preferred language
- Fixed menu sound effects not playing when selecting Threat Level VII
User interface
- Fixed controller disconnect prompt not disappearing after reconnecting a controller
- Fixed the door at the end of Dingy Jungle prompting “Travel” instead of “Exit”
- Fixed a rare issue that displayed an incorrect ‘P0’ flag on the mission select screen in local multiplayer, causing input issues
- Fixed white background briefly appearing on the rewards screen after opening the Chest
- Panda Plateau now shows the correct loading screen for hidden missions
- Added spinning icon animation to Microsoft account sign-in screen
- Changed the teleport menu so that it closes if you press a button that is not tied to a specific target player
Xbox One fixes
- Improved title stability after being disconnected from Xbox Live
- Fixed a crash that occurred when the active profile disconnected during the mission victory countdown screen
- Fixed a crash that occurred when logging out of the active profile while viewing the mission select screen at camp
- After resuming from a suspended state on the splash screen, the title no longer erroneously displays a “User disconnected” message
- Fixed players unable to accept friend invites after resuming the game from suspend while launched and suspended in offline mode
- Fixed game crashing when exiting a game session using a secondary profile after first disconnecting and reconnecting the controller
Nintendo Switch fixes
- Fixed crash when pressing the Available Now button for Jungle Awakens with guest controller
- Fixed news not appearing if not signed in to a Microsoft account
Playstation 4 fixes
- Fixed players invited to an online session by someone other than the host not receiving the invite
