Minecraft Dungeons is one of more than 50 games that have received bespoke touch controls for Xbox Game Pass via Xbox Cloud Gaming so far, and according to Mojang Studios, the addition has gone very smoothly.
Speaking to Windows Central, Mojang executive producer David Nisshagen explained that approximately 40% of players playing Minecraft Dungeons through Xbox Cloud Gaming exclusively using touch controls:
“That’s 40% of gamers who never have to touch a controller. I was like, that’s a dream number. That was above the target we set for ourselves.”
Nisshagen pointed out that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Tell me why have also seen similar numbers since adding touch controls, and the best part is that adding these controls is actually very easy for a developer:
“It was so easy to do and so fun to work with this team. Truly, it’s one of the best collaborations I’ve had the pleasure of working on. We were fully supported and fully understood. felt like we were working with a gaming team, although they are, at their core, providing and developing the streaming service.”
So this is it ! Touch controls are obviously already popular with Xbox Cloud Gaming, and we’re willing to bet the first 50 games are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what’s to come over the next 12 months and beyond.
